The Raman spectra of 60.0, 70.0, and 87.5 mole% V2O5 vanadium phosphate glasses and of crystalline V2O5 were measured at room temperature. Raman bands were observed at frequency shifts of 340, 480, 750, 945, and 1030 cm−1 for 60.0 mole% V2O5 glasses, of 32, 490, 705, and 1025 cm−1 for 70.0 mole% V2O5 glasses, and of 320, 480, 650, and 1010 cm−1 for 87.5 mole% V2O5 glasses. The bands just above 1000 cm−1 are correlated with bands observed in the infrared and Raman spectra of crystalline V2O5. Previously unreported Raman bands were observed at frequency shifts of about 650 and 1025 cm−1 for crystalline V2O5.
