Empirical analysis reveals a compact radial current profile in the N(1535) baryon transition, indicating unexpected spatial kinship with the N(1440) Roper state.
This study revisits the N(1535) negative parity Dirac‑type transition current using Patterson function analysis applied to empirical F1 form factors. By avoiding reliance on theoretical modeling, the method produces a sharply localized density profile with both positive and negative components. The reconstruction reveals a dominant central peak with a half‑maximum radius of 0.0355 fm, underscoring the compact nature of the distribution. Comparative analysis shows that the normalized Patterson profile of the N(1535) negative parity F1 transition overlaps with that of the N(1440) Roper radial excitation F1 transition. This overlap highlights a structural kinship in radial current distributions, even though the two states arise from distinct excitation mechanisms. The findings demonstrate the value of Patterson reconstruction as a model‑independent tool for uncovering hidden spatial relationships among baryon transitions.
