Perspective paper demonstrates that cross-institutional consultation supports counselor educators of color, highlighting the pedagogical benefits of collaborative peer networks.
This perspective paper is informed by the lived experiences of three counselor educators of color who participated in a cross-institutional faculty consultation group while teaching the multicultural counseling course (MCC). Drawing primarily from shared experiences, the faculty consultation group was designed to respond to the emotional and pedagogical demands of teaching this course in current sociopolitical times. Faculty described the group as a key source of emotional support, pedagogical brainstorming, and instructional growth. Consultation discussions informed changes to course assignments, instructional practices, and strategic next steps.
