Conceptual analysis uncovers cognitive and cultural displacement in generative AI systems, highlighting risks of epistemic extractivism and social divides.
Auraless is the second zine from AI Aura, an experimental space engaging with challenging and uncomfortable questions about generative AI. Through visual provocations, short reflections, cultural references, and a speculative appendix, the zine explores personalization, synthetic mediation, social divides, imagination, historical harmonization, policymaking, cognitive labor, and epistemic extractivism. Auraless asks what may become cognitively, culturally, and historically inaudible as GenAI-mediated systems become increasingly embedded in everyday life, institutions, and knowledge practices.
