The radiation‐induced polymerization kinetics of vinyl chloride in heterogeneous conditions (bulk) has been extensively studied and compared with the chemically‐initiated reaction in bulk and in solution. The main role of monomer chain transfer on the degree of polymerization has been confirmed and the rate constant values CM for homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions have been compared. It has been proved that the heterogeneity of the polymerizing system does not affect the value of CM. In the very last stages of polymerization the polymer formed presents lower molecular weights, higher long‐chain branching, and larger poly‐dispersity. An interpretation of these results has been proposed.
