Summary Further electron‐microscopic evidences were produced, by observing the mouse spleen fixed in glutar‐aldehyde fixative, in support of the authors' hypothesis that in the denucleation of the erythroblasts the reticular cells play an active phagocytosing role. It was pointed out that artefacts, more frequently produced by osmic acid fixation, might possibly have led to erroneous interpretations. On the basis of the findings, various hypotheses for the denucleation mechanism were criticized.
