From April 1, 1913, to Jan. 10, 1914, neosalvarsan combined with intensive mercurial treatment has been the routine followed in all syphilitic cases treated at the United States Military Prison Hospital, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. One hundred and eight cases of syphilis have been treated during the period mentioned. Three hundred and forty intravenous injections of neosalvarsan have been given. The "intravenous puncture" has been the method employed in all cases. The character of the reactions following injections were as follows: no reaction, 278; severe, 1; moderate, 3; mild, 58. We have considered all cases severe that ran a temperature above 102 F., with or without other symptoms; moderate, when the temperature ranged from 100 F. to 102 F.; mild, normal temperature to 100 F.
