In the current study, six new tetrahedral Hg(II) complexes of 3-hydrazonoindolin-2-one (HZI) with diphosphines (dppm, dppe, dppp, dppb) or diimines (bipy, phen) ligands have been prepared and characterized by molar conductivity, IR, 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectra. Antibacterial activity of these complexes has been tested against three bacterial species: Staphylococcusepidermidis and Staphylococcusaureus (gram positive) and Citrobacerfreundii (gram negative). All complexes are more active against Staphylococcusaureus than amikacin, while [Hg2(HZI)2(dppm)2]Cl4 (1), [Hg(HZI)(dppe)]Cl2 (2), and [Hg(HZI)(Phen)]Cl2 (6) complexes are more active against Staphylococcusepidermidis than amikacin. The complexes 2, [Hg(HZI)(dppp)]Cl2 (3), and 6 are active against Citrobacterfreundii.
