A novel method of metal removal and recovery and recovery is described. This method may be useful in connection with various types of water pollution. It is based on the fact that metal ions form water‐soluble complexes with water‐soluble polyelectrolytes, such as polyacids. These complexes can be precipitated with polybases and the metal can be recovered by treating the precipitate with mineral acid. The remaining polymer complex can be used again for further precipitation. Experiments with Cu2+ and Co2+ ions are given in some detail; general observations concerning other cases are included.
