Power electronic devices utilize various waveforms, i.e. multi-frequency waves, and magnetic passive devices generate the iron loss during their operation. Iron losses generated by multi-frequency magnetic fields are solely estimated by a linear combination of iron losses of each frequency component. In the present work, we utilized sinc pulses as well as waveforms mixed with two frequencies for iron loss measurements on a Sendust toroidal dust core. Analyzing the results, it is found that the harmonics of minor hysteresis loop cause cross terms in iron loss, and the linear combination model cannot be valid in the measurement conditions.
