Pt nanoparticles with different sizes from 0.8 to 3.2 nm were synthesized and applied as the cathode catalysts in a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). The results show that the catalysts with small particle sizes have much higher mass activities. Accordingly, the Pt loading in DMFC can be significantly reduced.
