A new lupane triterpene fatty acid ester, lup-20(29)-en-3-3(R)-hydroxy-hexadecanoate, has been isolated from the chloroform extract of leaves of Maclura pomifera. The known compounds sitosterol, stigmasterol, uvaol, and lupane 3,28 diol, were also isolated as major constituents. The structures were elucidated with IR, NMR, and mass spectroscopic techniques.
