O-Methylated calix[n]arenas (n = 4, 6, and 8) coupled to C6H4-p-CmH2m+1 (m = 8, 12, 14, and 16) via an azomethine linkage were synthesized. It was found that some of them show stable flow birefringence or readily form stable liquid crystals.
