The 2a-azoniabenzo[a]coronene salt was obtained by the photocyclization of 2-[2-(4-biphenylyl)vinyl]benzo[a]-quinolizinium salt and 2-styryl-10-phenylbenzo[a]quinolizinium salt in 80% and 75% yields, respectively.
