Treatment of [{Ir(η-C8H14)2(µ-Cl)}2] with Ge(NR2)2 in n-C6H14 at 20 °C (C8H14= cyclo-octene, R = SiMe3) in the absence or presence of CO leads to [{[graphic ommitted]H{Ge(NR2)2}](1) or [[graphic ommitted](CO)2H{Ge(NR2)2}](2), respectively; the Ir–Ge distances in (1) and (2) range from 2.325(3) to 2.470(3)Å.
