E. M. Pugh and G. H. Winslow London: Addison-Wesley . 1966. Pp. ix + 246. Price £1 16s. This volume is an excellent example of the ‘do-it-yourself’ textbook with clear, leisurely explanations and a good stock of examples for the reader to solve. The contents corroborate the statement, made in the preface, that the core of the book has been well tried out on generations of students, though this is without its having developed any tired or worn-out appearance.
