The traditional interlayer shear model overlooks both the interlayer and overall bending deformations of frame structures, which fails to fully capture the actual mechanical behaviour and accurately characterise the lateral deformation response of frame structures under seismic loading. The existing simplified bending-shear coupling model involves numerous parameters, complex calculations and low efficiency, making it unsuitable for the rapid simulation and evaluation of seismic damage in frame structures. To address these limitations, a novel approach for constructing a nonlinear shear-bending interlayer model for RC frame structures is proposed, building on previous research. In addition, a method is introduced to simplify the bending-shear full-rank stiffness matrix by employing non-diagonal element zeroing and diagonalization techniques, enabling a more comprehensive consideration of bending deformation effects on structural dynamic response. Verification using multiple multi-story RC frame structures demonstrates that the new simplified shear-bending model offers significant advantages in both modelling accuracy and computational efficiency. Compared to existing shear models, the computational accuracy improves by up to 90%, accurately simulating the dynamic response of multi-story RC frame structures under seismic loading.
