Through the use of microtubular solid oxide fuel cells, produced by a 3D additive manufacturing process, small-sized portable power systems with high power outputs are possible. These cells demonstrate power densities of 0.989 W cm−2 at 800 °C and survive more than 1055 rapid thermal cycles withstanding temperature changes greater than 350 °C min−1.
