The fabrication of Pt@TiO2@In2O3@MnOx mesoporous hollow spheres that can absorb both UV and visible light is described by J. Gong and co-workers in their Communication on page 13734 ff. TiO2@In2O3 double-layered shells were selectively decorated with Pt nanoparticles and MnOx on the inner and outer surfaces, respectively. Owing to the presence of thin heterojunctions and spatially separated cocatalysts, charge recombination is significantly reduced. These spheres are efficient photocatalysts for water and alcohol oxidation.
