The yield in the 1,4‐addition of methylmagnesium iodide to Δ16‐allopregnene‐20 ones was improved by using tetrahydro‐furan as solvent, and the reaction was applied to a number of 11 ‐substituted and ‐unsubstituted compounds, to a Δl6‐21‐acetoxy‐20‐ketone and also to 16‐dehydro‐progesterone.
