Tris- and bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)carbinols and tris- and bis(benzimidazol-2-yl) ketone, were prepared from lithiated 1-substituted benzimidazole. The Cu(I) and Cu(II) complexes of the exocyclically conjugated ketone are the first examples of bis(bis(benzimidazole)copper complexes.
