This paper presents a parallel-connected extended-delta 24-pulse diode bridge rectifier integrated with a harmonic suppression circuit (ED24DBR-HSC). The configuration utilizes an auto-configured transformer, two six-pulse DBRs, and a HSC consisting of two double-tapped inter-phase reactors and two auxiliary diodes eliminating the need for a zero-sequence blocking transformer. The proposed configuration results in a 24-pulse input current with a total harmonic distortion (THD) less than 3%, which in compliance with DO-160 G standards. The auxiliary diodes within the HSC carry a maximum current of only 3.4% of the total load current, significantly reducing conduction losses. Additionally, this study examines the impact of power frequencies on the input current THD, power factor, %kVA rating, and efficiency for varying load factor under the optimal turns ratio. A detailed analysis of the dynamic response to diode failures and their effect on power quality indices, %kVA, and efficiency is also provided. The proposed configuration is suitable for both aircraft power supply and ground power unit applications. Comprehensive theoretical analysis is supported by experimental and simulation results, demonstrating the configuration's performance and confirming its viability. A detailed comparison highlights its enhanced efficacy and performance.
