One flow condition has equal velocities at the injector exit of the central and annular jets, and the other has a higher velocity at the central jet exit. The flow configuration has a sudden expansion immediate downstream of the injector. The measurements were compared with flow prediction employing a k−e turbulence model, and reasonable agreement was obtained. The prediction, however, overestimates the rate of flow development and underestimates turbulent intensities and the length of the recirculation zone
