The chemical composition of carrot umbel oils obtained by hydrodistillation of three cultivars of Daucus carota L. ssp. sativus was investigated by GC and GC–MS. Forty components were identified. The oils were dominated by monoterpene hydrocarbons (66–85%) represented mainly by α-pinene (40–46%) and myrcene (12–24%). The most abundant sesquiterpene constituents were β-caryrophyllene (4.6–13.2%) and carotol (1.2–6.1%).
