The analysis of the features of the morphology and polymorphism of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of cisco ( Coregonus sp.) from Lake Sobachye (Putorana Plateau) demonstrates a significant relation of this population to the vendace Coregonus albula (Linnaeus). The obtained data allows us to discuss a number of hypotheses on the origin of cisco from Lake Sobachye and its phylogenetic relationship with the vendace and least cisco.
