Multinuclear (1H, 13C, 119Sn) NMR data are presented for a series of compounds of the type XMe2SnCHRCHR'CO2Me (X = Me, Cl; R, R' = Me, Ph). Values of 3J(H, H), 3J(Sn, H) and 3J(Sn, C) were used to assign the preferred conformations of these compounds and at the same time to test the empirical relationships proposed previously for 3J(Sn, C) and (indirectly) 3J(Sn, H); the validity of these relationships was confirmed.
