The genusPraonis revised. Thirteen North American species north of Mexico are recognized, including one new to science:P.carinumsp. nov.Praon cerasaphis(Fitch) andP.coloradenseAshmead are retained asSpecies inquirende. The female ofP.alaskenseAshmead and the male ofP.artemisaphisSmith are described for the first time.Praon nanusBaker,P.exsoletum palitansMuesebeck,P.agutiSmith, andP.negundinusSmith are placed in synonymy. The genusParapraonStary is considered a synonym ofPraonHaliday. A generic diagnosis ofPraonHaliday is given, and a key, diagnoses, and illustrations of North American species are provided.
