Abstract

in a dose dependent manner using both agar diffusion assays and suspension cultures. It was concluded that the enhanced antibacterial activity of the silver-doped pastes was due to the action of diffusible silver ions. Based on these results, silver-doped nanoscale hydroxyapatite pastes represent a highly promising new biomaterial system for the prevention and treatment of deep infections in bone tissue.
