The enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique was used to determine the atrazine content in 48 surface and ground waters from the province of Salamanca (Spain), 21 of which were used for human consumption. The atrazine concentrations found ranged from 0.04 to 41.17 μg L‐1. Ninety six percent of the waters were found to contain some atrazine in at least one sampling period. The results provided by the ELISA technique are compared with those obtained by HPLC from one series of water samples.
