The construction and performance of rechargeable coin cells are reported. Up to 30 cycles at currents of 1 mA were obtained to a capacity cutoff of 100 mAh in hermetically sealed cells with 140 mAh theoretical capacities. A sandwich design allowed currents of as high as 10 mA at a reduced cycle life. High‐energy density cells with 300–450 mAh capacity, comparable in energy density (0.25–0.3 Wh/cm 3 ) to commercial primary cells, were constructed but cycle life was greatly reduced. The effects of elevated temperature cycling and varied electrolyte systems are discussed.
