The electronic band structure of crystalline arsenic is studied by ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy. Angle‐integrated photocurrent is measured using a retarding field method and energy distribution curves are thus obtained in the 7.5 to 27.4 eV range. The numerous structures seen on energy distribution curves are identified as high density‐of‐state peaks. These experimental results are fruitfully compared to the calculated valence band structure of As.
