Of 192 patients (101 men, 50.5 ± 17.1 years old and 91 women, 50.5 ± 14.3 years old) trained on CAPO, 22 (six men, 68 ± 7.8 years old and 16 women, 55 ± 6.7 years old) developed 31 abdominal hernias. Fifteen of these hernias were incisional and developed at the site of catheter implantation; five of these became incarcerated and produced complete (4) or partial (I) intestinal obstruction.
