Meta-analysis response reports stepwise elevation of circulating microRNA-210 with worsening pre-eclampsia, indicating its value as a severity biomarker.
We thank Dr. Zhu for the careful reading of our meta-analysis and for the thoughtful comments.1 We are pleased that the central finding, a consistent stepwise elevation of circulating microRNA-210 (miR-210) from mild to severe pre-eclampsia (PE), was convincing. The three issues raised-sample matrix, normalization, and the prognostic versus predictive distinction-are all important for clinical translation. In several respects, our paper and the correspondent are in close agreement. In one respect, we would like to respectfully correct the record.
