Research relating to the performance of heat-resistant safety fabrics is referenced. General requirements for fabrics used for thermal protection are discussed, and laboratory methods of testing are summarized. A need is seen for a specific program to evaluate the suitability of the variety of fabrics that might be used in industrial safety apparel.
