The automotive industry is going through major changes driven by the usage of connectivity in cars. Increasingly complex offerings are causing companies to specialize, focus on their core strengths and collaborate with other business players to stay competitive and innovative. The driving force behind this development is the Internet of Things. By connecting various objects throughout their environment and allowing them to communicate between each other with or without human interaction, complex and interlinked new business opportunities arise. Platform-centric strategies and business models evolve, which integrate the knowledge of different companies and facilitate collaboration between organizations.
