methods: formula and breastmilk, in a healthy six-month-old infant. Hypothesis: Casein protein will be better absorbed through the feeding of breastmilk in a healthy six-month-old infant. Methods: Conducted an in vitro experiment testing casein absorbance using pepsin to simulate an infant’s stomach environment and a colorimeter test to get absorbance measurements. Result: There is a statistically insignificant amount of evidence that casein protein is better absorbed through the feeding of breastmilk and therefore, breastmilk can be used interchangeably with infant formula in strict regards to casein supplementation. Key Terms: Casein to whey ratio, colorimeter, pepsin, nutritional tailoring, absorbance, infant formula, breastmilk
