A single injection of noradrenaline, adrenaline, or isoprenaline produces a rapid and dramatic increase in alkaline phosphatase activity, confined to the right atrium. No other enzyme system appears to be affected. The increased activity is visible after 10 min and lasts for more than 24 hr.
