NAFLD has a histological spectrum that ranges from the relatively benign nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL), to the aggressive form of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), to NASH with advanced fibrosis/cirrhosis leading to end-stage liver disease.
