Studies on interstitial waters from monimolimnetic sediments of Fayetteville Green Lake have demonstrated the presence of water of increasing salinity with depth, chemically different from overlying water of the monimolimnion. Interstitial water from sediments above the plane of the chemocline does not differ greatly from overlying water of the mixolimnion.
