The "egg in the bottle" is a classic demonstration of Charles' law ( P, T ) found in many books of chemical demonstrations aimed primarily at elementary and high school students. Unfortunately, most of the explanations of the experiment are misleading and incorrect, many involving a shrinkage of the gas volume in a closed container. The correct interpretation of Charles' law is given along with some additional variations of the experiment.
