A proposed substrate inhibition model (M. C. Tseng and M. Wayman, Can. J. Microbiol., 21, 994 (1975)), derived from yeast growth rates has been applied to data for bacterial growth: Pseudomonas methanica grown on methanol and Arthrobacter AK19 grown on n‐butanol. The model represents the experimental data very well.
