This case study investigates one preschool child's emerging knowledge of workplace literacy prior to formal schooling which she integrates into her role playing. Considerable knowledge of various forms and functions inherent in workplace literacy are evident. Implications for educators are discussed in light of an expanding conceptualization of the literacy and the calls for authenticity in school based literacy programs.
