In a preceding paper a coherent treatment of a precipitation was suggested, in which the analytical solution for the stationary nucleation rate as well as that for the asymptotic ageing rate appear as limiting cases. In this paper a numerical solution for the entire precipitation is presented, assuming the diffusion of monomers to be rate determining. The results are compared with the above mentioned analytical solutions. It is found that the assumption of an equilibrium distribution of subcritical particles, usually made in the theory of the nucleation rate, may introduce a considerable error. It is also found that the system approaches the asymptotic ageing rate already at a supersaturation well above the saturation value. In general, however, the result confirms the qualitative discussion presented in our first paper on this subject.
