A natural gauge condition is used to select special orthonormal frames and thereby a preferred teleparallel geometry on a Riemannian manifold of any dimension. The condition is equivalent to a nonlinear elliptic system for a rotation. Existence and uniqueness of solutions are discussed. Certain special cases and applications are noted.
