We would like to thank Dr. Siegel for his valuable comments on our randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating the efficacy of a multimodal nonopioid analgesic protocol in controlling postoperative pain, as compared to postoperative opioids following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.1 The letter addressed specific concerns regarding the use of gabapentin in the postoperative period. A review of the literature on pain management using gabapentin was performed, ultimately questioning the need for “continued” gabapentin use postoperatively.
