Using computer simulation of plastic deformation it is shown that both types of rolling texture found experimentally in f.c.c. metals and alloys may be developed by {111} <110> slip. A texture of the copper‐type is developed if the individual crystals are forced to follow the macroscopic deformation in accordance with Taylor's theory. If the grains are supposed to deform like isolated single crystals a brass‐type texture is developed.
