18F-FDG PET/CT confirms extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma via increased peritoneal and mesenteric glucose uptake.
Why the study?
Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma in the abdominopelvic cavity is a relatively rare tumor with limited imaging characterization.
Case Report (n=1)
18F-FDG PET/CT is effective in identifying the extent and metabolic activity of rare extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma in the abdominopelvic cavity.
May aid rare extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma detection; leaves open prospective validation before clinical adoption.
Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma in the abdominopelvic cavity is a relatively rare tumor. We reporte 18 F-FDG PET/CT findings of primary peritoneal Ewing sarcoma in a 36-year-old man. The patient complained of abdominal distension for over a month. 18 F-FDG PET/CT has shown increasing glucose metabolism uptake in the peritoneum, greater omentum, lesser omentum, and mesentery, which was confirmed as extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma.

Li et al. (2025) conducted a case report in Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma (n=1). 18F-FDG PET/CT was evaluated on 18F-FDG PET/CT findings. 18F-FDG PET/CT revealed increasing glucose metabolism uptake in the peritoneum and mesentery, confirming extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma in a 36-year-old man.
