Abstract Allergic asthma develops in part from dysregulation of the innate and adaptive immune functions, particularly an imbalance in the Th2‐driven adaptive immune response. This dysregulation is the result of complex interactions between genes and environment. These interactions occur both pre‐ and postnatally, providing opportunities for early interventions in immunological programming.
