Without an oxidant like O 2 , Fe/H‐ZSM‐5 catalysts are able to convert methane selectively into benzene, toluene, and naphthalene. Methane is activated on iron oxide clusters, and the primary product ethylene undergoes subsequent oligomerization and cyclization reactions on Brønsted acidic sites to form the aromatic products.
