An experiment was conducted to study the effect of Mycoplasma synoviae (Ms.) infection on egg shell strength, Haugh units, and egg production. Results indicate that Ms. infection had no effect on egg shell strength or Haugh units; however, a reduction in egg production of approximately 18% was noted 2 weeks after infection. Egg production for the Ms.-infected hens was significantly lower than that of the control by 1 week after infection and remained significantly lower until 4 weeks after infection.
